Nazia is a visual artist with over 15 years of expertise and experience in the field of photography, painting, video art and documentary filmmaking. Nazia graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Art (BFA) in 20015 from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi, Pakistan. She then went on to obtain a Masters in Fine Art (MFA) from Central St. Martins College of the University of the Arts London (UAL) in 2011, with a focus in photography and video art. Nazia also studied documentary filmmaking from the London Film Academy in 2012.
Nazia has held several exhibitions of her photography and paintings worldwide, including exhibitions held at the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Intellectual Property Rights Organization (WIPO) in Geneva as well as the Pakistan High Commission and South Bank Centre in London. In addition to this, her video art has been showcased in PNCA in Islamabad and Koel Gallery in Karachi. Her photography can also be been found in several coffee table books, including Coke Studio’s Season 6 book entitled ‘Sound of the Nation’ and ‘Kam Sukhan,’ a book which celebrates female photographers work in Pakistan. Most recently her photography was published in ‘Our Markings 2020 - A Testimony to Life during Self and Social Isolation during COVID-19.’ Nazia has made a several documentaries throughout the years as well. These include ‘Journey of the Soul,’ a documentary based on the Sufi tradition of Islam in Pakistan & ‘Sisters in Arms,’ an Inter Services Pubic Relations (ISPR) production, focused on the empowerment of women who work within the Pakistani Armed forces. Currently Nazia is passing on her expertise to young aspiring artists by teaching filmmaking and photography at various universities in Islamabad.
